Cape Town - A savage attack involving a lion killing a lioness at a Polish zoo raises the questions, was this animal simply acting on instinct or was it lashing out after being removed from its natural environment?

The male lion, Arco, killed the female lionesses, in their shared enclosure after being brought to the zoo in north-eastern Poland to celebrate the zoo's 60th anniversary, reports Daily Mail.

Families with children who witnessed the attack, thought the lions were being playful at first. It was only after Berghi's hind legs stops struggling in the air that the onlookers realised that Arco did in fact kill the lioness.
According to Express, an expert of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), believes this kind of behaviour is completely unnatural, and that animals will continue to die unnatural deaths if society keeps them in cages.
